Business on the go

By admin

Interested in a laptop to do your work on when you are away from your desk?  Want one that is in-expensive?  Easy to work with?

We have at least one suggestion.  The “Eee PC” from ASUS.  The computer can be purchased for $299 to $499, depending on the storage and memory options.  I chose the “Eee PC 4G, 512 MB” version for $399.

Want to know the catch?  At this price itWenn Sie jedoch unbedingt Beste online Poker ???????? ????? ????????casino wünschen , gibt es einige Dinge zu beachten, dank derer Sie am Ende doch als Gewinner hervor gehen konnten. comes with LINUX as the operating system.  Before you get all excited, it is a simple to use, completely capable system that comes pre-loaded with 40 programs to allow you to surf the net, create or edit a document, spreadsheet or presentation.  It also comes with some games for when you just need a break, and all the tools you need to get connected with Skype and Internet Radio.

If you don’t think you can use Linux, you can get a similar unit from Best Buy (same computer loaded with Windows XP Home), but you have to buy the extras, Microsoft Office and so on.

The Eee PC is under two (2) pounds with a 7″ screen.  Comes with its own little slip case and is just plain ‘SEXY’.  Care to see one or learn more about it, try here.  http://event.asus.com/eeepc/microsites/en/index.htmrent a car bulgaria вик услугиКартиниИдея за подаръкикониикониПравославни иконииконописikoni

Top Italian

By webmaster

Well, okay . . .

Whenever you crave Italian that probably means one of the many types of Pasta offered by most of the Italian Eateries we all frequent.  In Virginia Beach, when you think of “Italian” you have to concider Il Giardino.  They make dining an adventure, really!

First of all, there is the off-season.  Why is that important?  In the off-season, Sundays are “Two-for-One” at Il Giardino.  Yep, buy one dinner and get another FREE!  This is a great deal and even out of season you can get the best Italian at the beach here.

I prefer the “Penne Alla Vodka”, but you name it and they serve it.  Don’t forget to try the Italian Sausage, a great side dish with any meal.

You can find out about their menu and resteraunt by going to http://www.ilgiardino.com/.  Try it soon.

Restaurant Week

By webmaster

Once each year the Tidewater area will celebrate the wide variety of the food  in the area by offering an inexpensive opportunity to “try it out” through “Restaurant Week”.  This week is that week.  Check out the players; http://www.vbra.com/ .  Here you can see the menus of those participating and can decide what you want to “give a try”.  Sunday night my wife and I tried out “Terrapin”.  They are located on Holley Road out at the beach.

Hours: Tues.-Sat. from 5:30-10 p.m. and Sun. from 5-9

Here is the deal!  Quiet, elegant and if you are looking for a romantic place to spend part of your evening, this might just be your choice.  It is small, that makes it feel intimate.  The service is top notch.  If you take a sip of water, someone is there to make sure your glass is full, that kind of service.

We had the Pork Tenderloins with Sweet Mashers . . . PERFECT!

Five stars in my book.  Try it out and come back and tell us about it!

Hidden Treasure

By webmaster

Hello again folks, sorry for not keeping this so active.  It has been a busy year and I just have not had the time to visit any new places here in Virginia Beach, that is, until now.  Last night we were looking for a place to eat where we wouldn’t have to wait for an hour for seating.  We were out with a few friends who suggested that we try a new place on Great Neck road near First Colonial.  The place is called Reisners International Delight, it is billed as a “Turkish” restaurant and it was just what the doctor ordered.  We walked in and we were the only ones there.  This may be one of the great “best kept secrets” of the season.  The current owner took over about 6 months ago and she is still working on building the business.  If the meals that we had are any indication, we won’t be able to walk in and just sit anywhere soon.  I had a Blackened Chicken dish that was great, the others all tried different menu items, and from the quiet around our table, it MUST have been good.  Try it; I think you will like it!  North on Great Neck Road to First Colonial, Reisners is on the far end of the shopping center near the walk-in medical care facility.

Town Center

By Sal

For most of it’s existence, Virginia Beach has been just a sprawling, resort community.  Since the city has grown out of the absorption of surrounding, unincorporated communities, there has never been a true “Downtown” for the Beach.

Today, that is no longer true.  Over the past few years the city has concentrated it’s efforts in the Pembroke area, building what is now known as “Town Center”.  The center is fast becoming the heart of the city with its business centered theme, but it is also becoming a destination for fine dining in Virginia Beach.

You will find a wide range of restaurants here, The Cheesecake Factory, Bravo Cuchino, Gordon Bierch’s BrewPub, PF Changs and on top of the heap, Ruths Chris Steak House.

If you are staying at the beach you can either take I-264 West (from around 21st street) or Laskin Road West (from around 31st Street).  Laskin will eventually turn into Virginia Beach Blvd.  In either case you will find the Town Center and all of its entertainment located where Independence crosses Virginia Beach Blvd.  Can’t miss it, just head for the two tallest buildings in the area and when you find yourself between the two you will have arrived!

Come to the center and savor the flavor of the Beach!ikoni

Hilltop

By webmaster

Every city has their “neighborhoods”.  Some come to be deemed “un-desirable” while others are considered “very desirable”.  Here in Virginia beach we have been best known for our Ocean Front, but we have many other “neighborhoods” that you might find pleasant.
Interested in shopping? Looking for a place to eat that might be a bit different?  Turn your head west and come inland just a few miles.  Laskin Road, or 31st street for those of you at the Ocean Front, has an area called “Hilltop” located at the intersection of Laskin and First Colonial.  Here you can find every shopping experience you are missing, but most notably, you will find a wide variety of restaurants to choose from.
Looking for elegant dinning, try Cobalt Grill.  Located in Hilltop North, 1624 Laskin Road, Suite 762.  http://www.cobaltgrille.com/ .  They are billed as “Big city flair with a romantic edge” and they live up to that.  Call for reservations, 757- 333-3334.
Another fine dining opportunity here is 757 Fire & Vine, a newcomer to the area.  Fire and Vine is located in Hilltop East, 1556 Laskin Road, Reservations required, 757.428.VINE (8463).  Expect exceptional food and as the name implies, an impressive wine list.

Here at hilltop you will also find a Japanese Steak House, Otani; One of the nations premier Fondue restaurants, The Melting Pot; A fun spot, The No Frill Grill and some of the best deserts in town at The Bakers Crust.
Come inland and explore Virginia Beach Hilltop!

Anyone spend any time around Hilltop? If you do you probably already know all about the Baker’s Crust located in the Hilltop East Shopping Center. They offer everything from eggs for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch and various entrees for dinner. Specials are posted every day and there is always a wine suggestion.

Not interested in having a meal? How about dessert? They make the most mouth watering crepes you will ever have. Big enough to share. Tastey enough to want more!

For light fare or the perfect end to an evening, try the Bakers’ Crust at Hilltop and all of their other locations.

Home office or Professional office

By Sal

Many of us have a “Home Office”, really just a small corner that we have carved out of one of the rooms that we could sorely use in some other way. We may be able to function really well most of the time but what do you do when you have to meet a client. Some of the time you can go to their office, others you can suggest lunch or a discussion over a cup of coffee at your favorite shop, but eventually they will want to meet at your office! Since you don’t really have one you could be in a real pickle.

Now, you could shop around and find someplace that has extra space and rent that, but then you need a phone system, an internet connection, a desk and other furnature and on and on . . .

I have found a better solution. It is called Executive Suites and the benefits are awesome! Here is what you get (in general):

  • A receptionist
  • One or more meeting rooms
  • Telephone connection
  • Internet Connection
  • Furnature rental
  • Coffee service (most cases)

Many of these “Suites” offer more but you get the idea. Now, take that one step further, you like your “Home Office” but you just need a professional mailing address, well they do that too and they throw in use of the meeting rooms when you need them.

Wow, what a deal! Where do I sign up? Here in Virginia beach there are several choices:

  • Birdneck Executive Suites – Laskin Road
  • College Park Executive Suites – Commonwealth Place – www.cpes.net
  • Columbus One – Town Center
  • Some new ones are opening, look around

Think about it, an office with everything for a minimum investment. Anyone have any questions or ideas? Leave your comments and let us know. What do you think?

Where to dine in Virginia Beach

By admin

Our town is a tourist destination.  As such, it is home to some pretty fabulous restaurants.  It is my intention here to try to bring some of the best to light.  I’m sure that along the way we, that is you and me, will identify a few clunkers as well.  I want to hear from you about your favourites and your not so favourite eateries.  Let us know where we can get the best food in Tidewater.

I expect most of the locals have discovered Mary’s Restaurant on 17th Street near the beach.  If you haven’t, I suggest that you make an effort.  Their best offerings come in the morning for breakfast.  And if you’re looking for a place that offers Sunday Brunch, Mary’s is the place for you.  Be prepared to wait for seating, anywhere from 10 to 25 minutes, but in the end it is well worth it.  Getting hungry, try Mary’s for your next meal.икони

Business in Virginia Beach

By admin

Good day everyone.  There are many small, medium and large size businnesses in Virginia Beach.  Many are involved in support for the military but at least as many cater directly to the public in all of Tidewater.  While I will concentrate on businesses in Virginia beach, businneses in other Tidewater communities (Norfolk, Chesapeake, Newport News and beyond) .  How do I know?  I am a small business operator.  My business is training and service oriented, so we are directly involved in public relations.  The term “the public” simply means “all of us”.   I would love to hear from anyone who has either a “HORROR” story or a really “POSITIVE” tale to tell.  Tell me all about it in your comments.  Thanks.Картини
